چکیده

A ray optical methodology based on the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) is proposed to model electromagnetic (EM) field scattering from curved metasurfaces (MSs). The problem addressed illumination a purely reflective cylindrical MS by line source, models surface with susceptibilities and employs previously used for cylinders coated in thin dielectric layers [Kim Wang (1989)]. approach fundamentally representation using generalized sheet transition conditions (GSTCs) which characterizes terms susceptibility dyadics. Optical metasurfaces: from planar to conformable optics

Abrupt modifications of the fields across an interface can be engineered by depositing an array of subwavelength resonators specifically tailored to address local amplitude, phase and polarization changes [1]. Physically, ultrathin nanostructure arrays, called “metasurfaces”, control light by engineering artificial boundary conditions of Maxwell’s equations. Metasurfaces have been implemented t...

Absorption-induced scattering and surface plasmon out-coupling from absorber-coated plasmonic metasurfaces

Interactions between absorbers and plasmonic metasurfaces can give rise to unique optical properties not present for either of the individual materials and can influence the performance of a host of optical sensing and thin-film optoelectronic applications. Here we identify three distinct mode types of absorber-coated plasmonic metasurfaces: localized and propagating surface plasmons and a prev...

Skew Ray Tracing and Error Analysis of Optical Lens with Cylindrical Boundary Surface

This study applies computational geometric algebra based on a 4| 4 homogeneous transformation matrix and Snell’s law of geometrical optics to analyze skew rays and the errors of a light ray’s path as it passes through a cylindrical lens. The author addresses two important topics: (1) the determination of the direction of a reflected or refracted ray by Snell’s law and (2) the expression of the ...

Flexible controls of scattering clouds using coding metasurfaces

Metamaterials or metasurfaces have been designed to precisely manipulate the scattering at every angle. Here, we propose to control the probability of random scattering appearing in the desired range of angles, which is defined in this letter as scattering cloud. We present a controllable random metasurface by simply adding a random coding sequence to gradient coding sequence. It is shown that ...
